California Senators George (Ret.) & Sharon Runner – herself a double-lung transplant recipient – immediately saw the importance of the USBloodDonors.org ‘standby’ donor & social media plan for significantly mitigating donor shortages, beginning with blood. George “authored California's AMBER Alert system, which has successfully utilized the Emergency Alert System to involve the general public in the search for abducted children and has aided in numerous successful parent-child reunions.” (Source: Wikipedia.org). George & Sharon “authored Proposition 83, California's version of Jessica's Law. The measure passed with the support of 71% of California voters, and passed in 57 of California's 58 counties.” (Source: Wikipedia.org) George is presently serving as Vice Chair of The California State Board of Equalization. Both were pivotal to our receiving the support of L.A. County in this lifesaving cause. Sadly, Senator Sharon Runner passed away on July 14th, 2016. She is sorely missed by all who knew her.
